Representative William Turtle of Pittsfield unveiled a bill to require pre screening of all jury list names. It imposes a year in prison or a $500 fine on registrars or election commissioners who place unfit men on the list and on those who solicit jury work for ineligible men. The measure, urged by Governor Guild, also subjects members of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company and bank cashiers to jury duty, while exempting those under 25 or over 70.
