Wreck on Elevated Road Halts City Transit

At 9 15 p m a four car train carrying about eighty passengers wrecked in the smoking car on the elevated line near the junction of Atlantic Avenue loop and the main line at Washington and Castle streets. Six persons were injured. Loss included rolling stock and a switch tower. The system was tied up for a half hour and the subway two hours.

Derailed Smoking Car Crashes Into Signal Tower Injures Six

A smoking car on the Atlantic avenue line bound for Dover Street derailed near Washington and Castle streets shortly after 9 PM. It struck the signal tower causing extensive damage and trapping ten passengers in the wreck. Six passengers are reported injured while others escaped as traffic on the line was halted and the car moved to Dudley Street station. Authorities had not released names or conditions by morning.

John Glover escaped by leaping a low roof and dropping 25 feet to ground. John F. Morrison East Boston assistant engineer and jail steward was arrested on District Attorney Moran’s order, indicted by the grand jury, and held on $1000 bail. Morrison bailed by James A. Mc Laughlin and W. H. Hodgkins in $1000 each. Glover remains at large. Morrison discharged by Sheriff Seavey and taken to the district attorney’s office.

Cat Kills By Rampaging Cat In Jamaica Plain

After a two day rampage in an aristocratic Jamaica Plain area five children were bitten or scratched by a large black cat. Patrolmen McAdams and Riley killed the animal under the Tileston mansion porch on Glen road. The victims are children of the Tileston Dole Brewster and Newhall families. The cat's carcass lies in Dr. Austin Peters barn ice box while a microscopic rabies test is planned.

Wreckage Sighted Suspected Ponce Remains

The Siberia of the Hamburg American line reported passing wreckage about 100 miles south of Sandy Hook.
