Back Bay suspects report a mysterious robbery yielding valuable gems. Readable pieces include a turquoise pin eight mend colored oval inch, two small gold and enamel bar pins with diamonds, a large diamond star with 12 points and central one karat diamond, and a second similar star about 11 percent inch in diameter.

A fire in Odd Fellows Hall during the fifth annual ball of Cigar Fillers and Tobacco Strip Workers Union No. 8156 burned six young men’s hands and arms and scorched a young girl’s dress. Gas jet flames fed by bunting forced about 500 attendees to flee as workers pulled down flaming streamers. Firemen and helpers, led by Edward Whallen, tackled the blaze, patrons regrouped after 15 minutes, with many leaving for home.
