Police disrupts fifth contest at East Brookline street

Appalachian Mountain Club Holds 1900 Corporate Meeting

The Appalachian Mountain Club met in the Walker building at MIT with President John Herbert presiding. Notorious hotel thief Batchelder jailed for 13 years

George Batchelder alias Old Batch John F Osgood and other names was sentenced by Judge Sheldon in Superior Court to thirteen years for breaking and entering the Copley Square Hotel on December 12 and possessing burglars tools. He was identified by hotel staff and a missing middle finger after officers traced a regular late night traveler using various aliases. Batchelder admitted his identity and awaits grand jury, with bonds set at five thousand dollars.

Gala supper honors Charles F. Devine with silver gavel

A large gathering including Donovan, McGrevey, Flanigan and others assembled for a supper march. Floor Director Ducey ordered a recess before introducing Thomas A. O'Neill who presented a solid silver gavel to President Charles F. Devine as a token of esteem. Guests were escorted to the supper table and the affair broke up around 4 a.m.
