A naval board of enquiry led by Captains Benton Decker Moody and Constein will hear testimony to assign blame for the Cape Cod collision between the battleship North Dakota and fishing schooner T K Bentley. Fire drives residents from four story block near Harrison and Florence

A blaze in a four story brick building at Harrison Avenue and Florence Street forced sixteen children and many adults to flee in nightclothes via fire escapes. The fire caused about $3000 damage to the street floor store of Abraham Previtz. A 15 year old, David Glick, was severely cut after smashing a window to reach a fire escape as smoke filled stairways and roofs.

New York financier August Belmont was thrown from a horse on his South Carolina estate suffering a strained back and bruises. He was moved to an ambulance and returned home by private car, with officials saying the injuries are not serious and he expects to resume work in a few days.

Final Rites for Slayton

Funeral services for John Charles Tremont Slayton of Melrose will be held at 2 30 tomorrow at his 89 Wyoming avenue home. The Rev. Luther P Cudworth of Boston and the Rev. Harold Marshall of Melrose will officiate. burial in Morrisville Vermont. Slayton, born Calais Vermont June 27 1856, served on the Board of Aldermen Park Commission City Planning Board Memorial Hall Commissioner and Governor's Council. He later founded Slayton and Boynton, a major wholesale merchant house, and was longtime known as the Butter King of the Hub markets. He leaves a wife and two children Ralph and Louise, the latter married to Carlos N Sheldon.
