Joseph W. Swan former Everett real estate operator files a Suffolk Superior Court petition seeking to set aside a divorce decree that awarded alimony and child custody to Adra F. Swan. He alleges murders and torture of his child Robert G. Swan and accuses his wife’s attorneys of conspiring to ruin him while claiming constitutional rights. Mrs. Swan asks the court to dismiss the impertinent and scandalous petition and to award costs.

Sailors begin a large scale stoppage halting liner landings and cargo handling. The waterfront faces an unprecedented work action the longest since 1882 with seamen pressing for their chief demands.

More than 3000 Boston port longshoremen voted to strike all transatlantic and deep water steamships calling at or coming to the city.
