Larceny at Columbia Theatre Involving Actor Murray
Hudson Warren Murray, known as Howard Clayton, 20, of 5 Ohio Street, was arrested by Patrolmen Miller and Trainer for larceny of $18 and a $3,100 collection from actor Sam E wards of the Bobadil company. The theft occurred in the dressing room during a 9 pm dress rehearsal. Murray was held three hours later on arrival of the New York train at Back Bay station and searched. A ring valued at $600 and a $400 ruby stick pin were found, with $117 in bills. Murray claims $67 was discarded on the train. He was moved to Dedham Street station and the jewelry shown to him, then he kissed Lt Garland before the carney. He asked to wire his father, tied to Nassau Country Golf Club, for mercy.
