William Francis A. McNutt, who married Miss Ogden in New York, left Harvard after about a year but left a lasting mark in Cambridge and Boston. Known as the best dressed man at Harvard in 1882 1883, he popularized a distinctive hair style and led a circle of pleasure seeking peers. An old Cambridge trader recalled him as a well mannered, generous, first class fellow who had money and enjoyed life.

Josephine Mellin Southwick Ayer widow of Dr. James Ayer died suddenly at her Paris residence near the Hotel Des Invalides on Monday afternoon. She telegraphed New Year greetings to her children in Lowell, had lived in Lowell until 1878, then in New York, and since 1884 resided in Paris.
