The Merchants National Bank of Haverhill Massachusetts with a capital of 100000 dollars has been authorized to begin business in the city. Wasumorox Ja National Bank of n. 4 appears in the report as part of the historical notice.
The Boston Gas Light Company will furnish illuminating gas via separate meters to families boarding houses restaurants and hotels. Gas at $1.00 per thousand is cheaper than coal with savings in time labor and less smoke dirt and ashes. Gas cooking stoves cost 310 to 80 and run one to five cents per hour. Large hotels and restaurants can be fully equipped for gas cooking at proportional costs.
