A 235 foot pile of sawdust caved in at Rochester New Hampshire burying brothers Dean and Earl Tufts. Dean Tufts died after being buried a second time despite Earl's partial rescue.
Dean and Earl rushed to free a trapped brother as a sawdust pile toppled twice at the site. Earl, 23, unmarried, fought the heap for about thirty minutes before it shifted and released him and his sibling.
Justin Lucius aged 18 a machinist at the Arthur C Harvey Company was shot in the thigh when a fellow worker handled a rifle at the Harvey steel plant 397 Congress street during noon. He is confined at his home 303 Bremen Street East Boston in stable condition. weeks remain before he can resume work. The men were examining a gun when the accident occurred.
Adelard Marcotte, 12, was pitched into Hamilton Canal by his 21-year-old brother George Marcotte after a struggle over the boy’s care. A passing train crew rescued the child. George surrendered to police and faces attempted murder charges. The elder man, now jailed, had recently lost both parents and wife while supporting his siblings and daughter.
Archie B. Bachelor, a member of the U.S. Washington engineering force aboard the world cruise, died of gas poisoning at his aunt’s home on Chestnut Street. He had been unconscious since Friday night. the medical examiner refused to discuss the case.
The Boston and Maine railroad faced a long awaited wage petition last night as conductors yardmen and trainmen presented demands for higher pay. Leaders B H Merrill and Warren S Keay submitted the requests to General Superintendent C E Lee with no demonstrations observed.
The proposal mirrors a October city action by 118 general chairmen of railroad conductors and trainmen in the Eastern territory. It requests roughly a 10 percent wage rise and a 10 hour workday to align with lighter Western workloads. The Boston and Maine currently has 11 hour days for passenger and freight crews and 10 hours for yardmen, with a shift to a flat day rate based on 155 miles and a daily mileage basis.

The Majestic Theatre was flooded forcing its closure and a citywide disruption ensued as 700 gallons per minute poured into the subway via a ventilator. Police officer injured and property damage estimated in the hundreds of thousands.
