Protective Committee Formed for Boston and Montana Stockholders

The Boston and Montana declares ongoing litigation defenses and the need for a Stockholders' Protective Committee to ensure timely representation in court. A majority of stock has pledged under an agreement with deposits handled by State Street Trust Company to enable rapid action while certificates are listed on the Boston Stock Exchange.

Along the Water Front. Coastal arrivals and repairs update

Long Wharf welcomed twelve passengers from the York mas Yarmouth voyage including James F Galvin Charles Weeks Charles Comeau and John Reddy of the Gloucester schooner Horace Albert sent home by US Consul Radcliffe H Ford. The Horace Albert crew remains ashore for repairs Captain Ibbets and three men stay aboard to finish work. A fruit steamer Admiral Dewey later passed Nobska with 14500 banana bunches 2763 cocoanuts 30 barrels grapefruit 2000 barrels and 450 boxes oranges arriving fully 36 hours late amid rough weather. A big fleet of coal carriers and tugs arrived with about 49000 tons of coal. Several four mastered schooners with cargoes also reached port. The Barrowmore set sail for London with cargo. The revenue cutter Onondaga undertook a three week cruise along the New England coast and may head to Cuba. A Manila fire damaged ship Vigilant but it was floated later.

Attachements at Newport News Seek $50,000 in Coal Ship Proceedings

Information from Newport News states the steam collier Santuit and coal barges Chalmette and Juniata have been attached for $50,000 at the instance of the New York Steam Towboat Company against Atlantic Transportation Company, which had been shipping coal to New England ports. Other vessels of the company are being attached as they arrive. Lake built steamers Aragon and Simon J. Murphy and coal barges H. D P D Alverson, Marion W. Page and Wadena lie in harbor. The skipper’s wife says ten barge crew members are without funds after three months unpaid, while crews on John O’Neill and Porter were paid in full in the city.
