Her sons William and Richard W Nickerson brokers of Boston living in Dedham left for Paris after a cablegram about their mother's condition.
A two-alarm blaze at 674-692 Broadway Somerville injured Harvard student Richard C. Peabody and three firemen while four others escaped. Firefighters battled near freezing conditions as the fire spread from a cellar in G N Blake's store to adjacent shops including Palace of Sweets and Bates Bowling Alleys. Total damage estimated at 106000 dollars.
A sparrow alighting on a gun carried by 15 year old William G. Berry in a barn at his home led to a discharge that struck his companion 16 year old Julian L. Fulton in the back. The incident occurred yesterday at the rear of Berry's residence on Jerome Street.
A Fulton boy was shot while testing a new Christmas rifle in a barn. The 22 caliber bullet lodged in his back after a sparrow interfered with the shot. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in a Medford police ambulance and is not believed to be in immediate danger. No blame attaches to the Berry boy.
