John Lavoritto a 55 year old Italian quarryman was found outside a fellow worker’s shanty in West Quincy with his face crushed by a boulder and his upper body burned. Old feud ends in murder of Italian paving stone worker

A long simmering quarrel over liquor led to the killing of Lavoritto in a Sharp Rock woods quarry near the Braintree line. Samuelson, 75, initially denied involvement but later said a lamp exploded, igniting Lavoritto’s clothing and a struggle ended with a paving stone used as the murder weapon. Samuelson cites a prior friendship and a recent altercation as motive. he has a Swedish family and resides in the city.

Death by Own Action Ends Society Woman’s Life in New York

Mrs Emma Isabel Peabody a society figure shot herself in her 74 West Sixty ninth street apartment tonight. formerly Emma Isabel Levitt of Brookline Massachusetts she was said to be related to Mrs George Willcomb of Boston and to have wealthy New England friends. Her companion Mrs Helen Parker found her body with a bullet wound to the temple after hearing breathing and calling for a doctor noted by Dr Edward P Fowler who saw her recently and saw signs of a nervous attack before a hysterical act ended her life.
