Copper Market in 1908 Faces Slump and Gradual Rebound

The copper sector ended 1907 with record lows and began 1908 in decline before an uneven recovery. Prices fell from 25 cents to as low as 12 1/4 to 12 1/2 cents, then drifted upward. October and November showed the strongest activity. Buyers cover futures and firms stockpile to avoid high spot costs, amid doubts about European reserves and persistent conservative selling.
