The Astle Square Hotel, under Joseph J. Marlow Sleeper, has been refurnished and upgraded. Painters and plumbers finished work. offices and public areas improved. suites refurbished. cuisine to be prioritized. the hotel will operate on liberal terms with focus on detail and service.
Forecaster notes fair conditions across regions with brisk west to northwest winds. New England sees snow in the north on Wednesday and a cold Thursday, Eastern New York expects colder conditions with interior snow flurries and a fair coast, then fair and windy coastal areas Thursday.

Louis Bitzer the jeweler shot and killed his young lady clerk and his baby boy and seriously wounded his wife and two daughters in Turner’s Falls. He then surrendered as investigators say he planned suicide after the wholesale murder. Neighbors heard the first shot at about 10 15 am and Bitzer fled homeward through an alley to his residence on Third Street. The wife saved by a shot near the face and a note found in the store suggest the killings followed business troubles. Authorities move to hold Bitzer for the grand jury as autopsies confirm the victims died instantly from gunshot wounds.
