Lind in Vera Cruz Dreamer for Wilson and Mexican Peace
The piece profiles John Lind President Wilson’s envoy in Vera Cruz a dreamer who envisions a North conquering the South and portrays Villa and Carranza as future patriots. It details his neutral stance toward Huerta’s regime and his belief that the North must win, amid mass violence and U S policy under Wilson. It also reports a copper company hostage threat as Lind’s views are contrasted with American protection of property and citizens.
