Athens dispatch reports King George and cabinet refuse to recall Greek troops from Crete. He expresses shock that Christian powers fired on Christians and allowed Turks to use a protected base. Chronicle interview notes readiness to accept Crete union by plebiscite if voters decide.

Mr and Mrs Brauer of North Walpole were thrown from their buggy when an inbound electric car struck them at Washington and Boylston in Jamaica Plain. Mrs Brauer escaped injury while Mr Brauer suffered head cuts and fainted, later recovering enough to ride home with his wife. their horse was killed and their buggy demolished.
In the Lords Lord Salisbury announced a telegram to British representatives in European capitals. It states Her Majesty’s government will declare a policy supporting administrative autonomy for Crete as a step to end international occupation, with Crete’s status tied to that autonomy.

A three story Roxbury frame tenement at 89 George Street burned from a third floor fire started in Mrs. Dolan’s apartment. Firemen rescued six families trapped by smoke while occupants fled in night attire. Damages listed at $1000. cause unknown.
A Southern Congressman on the House floor claims Consul-General Lee has resigned. He cites a State Department despatch and Olney’s request to delay until after the current administration ends. Officials deny receipt of any resignation and expect Lee to remain at post through March 4.
Despatch from Havana says brigades under Generals Gasco Segura and Ruiz defeated Gomez and forced a retreat with heavy losses. Government troops occupy passes to Matanzas and Las Villas, blocking Cuban escape routes.
