Dublin reports show both sides and De Valera followers favor the three months truce. Envoys are summoned to London to explain the situation as inquiries indicate broad satisfaction with the arrangement reached at the Ard inquest.
The committee on legal affairs reported leave to withdraw on the daylight saving repeal bill. Senator Silas D. Reed of Taunton dissents and will seek repeal on the Senate floor. The panel also opposed extending daylight saving by one month forward and one month back from the standard period.
Eastview N Y Feb 23 posses searched Woods and grounds of the John D Rockefeller estate at Pocantico Hills for Joseph Gervanko who escaped from Eastview penitentiary today. Guards tracing his snow trail said it led into the oil king's property. He had six weeks of a year's burglary sentence remaining.
Thirteen persons including nine schoolchildren were bitten by a supposed mad dog this noon in Holyoke. Two victims remain in hospital while the rest are cared for at home after officers cornered and shot the animal following a long police chase past Frank McQuillan's residence at 93 North Canal Street.
In South Peabody Mrs. George Hemmingway fled a burning bungalow with her five hours-old son after a furnace overheated. Her husband suffered severe burns and two other children were aided by a nurse as fire crews from Lynn and Peabody battled the blaze. The home was destroyed but mother and baby were rushed to Lynn Hospital, expected to recover barring complications.
Jeffers fires bullet through Percy C. Russell killing him and wounds Russell’s daughter Grace. Grace is struck on a car platform but survives. Jeffers then turns pistol on himself, jumping and kicking the injured girl before ending the attack. A fireman now bears the weapon. Grace will recover.
Percy C Russell and his daughter Grace were shot aboard a New York New Haven Hartford train near Clicquot. Kingston Jeffers a Middlesex Boston Street Railway bookkeeper wounded himself after killing the pair in a jealousy fueled crime. Grace fled after the attack as Jeffers pursued her and then turned the gun on himself.
Robert T. Brady reports Thomas C. O'Brien of 76 Mapleton Street Brighton former institutions commissioner of Boston was appointed by Governor Cox late yesterday afternoon to be district attorney of Buffel County replacing Joseph C. Pelletier.
