Public Service Commission Hearing on Six-Cent Fare Proposal
The resumed hearing before the Public Service Commission ended at noon with another two week adjournment to March 8. City Solicitor Arthur Wadleigh of Lynn pressured the commission and Bay State attorneys, arguing that a six cent fare would cut short haul ridership and force walkers away from the second nickel. The commission admitted the Bay State and Boston and Northern annual reports as evidence but did not deem them proof of efficiency. Rulings on the motions will be made March 8, with further motions to follow and cross examination of witnesses scheduled for the week after.
