A gasoline blast aboard the Provincetown fishing schooner Mary C. Santos in Boston harbor killed two crewmen and fatally injured others. Seven aboard suffered burns and injuries, with one missing and several rushed to Relief, City, and Carney Hospitals.
London February 24 The crown prince’s legions renew ferocious assaults on Verdun as the great battle rages with unprecedented German strength. French lines have withstood the onslaught and not been broken, despite heavy artillery and repeated attacks. France celebrates the stubborn defense amid reports of vast troop engagements and mounting casualties.
