A three story factory on Central street housing Puritan Comb Co and Bay State Comb Co burned. One woman died and seven others were seriously injured, with two possibly fatally. Forty workers escaped. Damages were substantial.
A third floor blaze at the Puritan Comic Company building in Leominster left Miss Flora Curtis dead and several workers severely burned. William J. Hines Ira Holman J M Lambert Leon Wil Henry Vailett George Hodgson and Mrs Joseph Carpenter were injured as flames trapped workers after a blower ignited celluloid scraps. Mrs Carpenter survived a jump from a third story window but suffered critical injuries. Holman 60 was among the worst hurt and nearly died.
Colonel Theodore Roosevelt will arrive from New York and is to attend a city meeting. The purpose of his visit is officially stated as participation in the local gathering.

The children relief committee of textile strikers plans to send 100 or more children to New York and Philadelphia on an early train tomorrow despite acting City Marshal Sullivan and Colonel E Leroy Sweetser orders. Police fear riot if interference occurs. Sullivan denies departure.
Traveling salesman Martin Rosenbaum ended his life in Melrose at his lodgings on 150 Florence Street. He reportedly swallowed morphine and chloroform then released illuminating gas. Landlady Mrs Brown found his body and police were alerted. medical examiner cited despondency over his wife’s death as a likely cause.
Two Gar field Alger boys aged four and two slipped through thin ice while sliding near their home at 425 Main Street Watertown. Stableman William Hall saved them, pulled Garfield and William Alger from four feet of water and helped resuscitate William after bringing him to their home.
