Pact With Japs Still Unratified
The Senate, in executive session, again failed to ratify the Japan treaty sent to the body Tuesday by the President. Senator Hale, once a critic, showed no opposition today as several western senators sought more time to study the pact. Secretary Knox and Hale discussed tariff objections, and Taft sent a telegram to Governor Johnson of California to reassure him that immigration provisions remain unchanged and no relaxation of restrictions is intended.
