Police describe Gaetano Capucci of 105 Prince Street as a 46 year old man 5 feet 6 inches tall and 130 pounds wearing dark clothes and a black soft hat. Capucci allegedly killed Sabato Napo in a pistol duel on Prince Street at 7 last night and fled into his store. His friends claim self defense and a manhunt is underway.
Dowager Empress at Tsarskoe-Selo declares fear of assassins unfounded and says life may be taken if fate allows it. Imperial family pressures her to stay away from St Petersburg but she resists. Funeral for Grand Duke Sergius passes quietly amid broad public calm and liberal relief. Police precautions deemed excessive.
John J. Barry and Joe Lampert, East Boston fishermen, went adrift from the schooner Manhasset on February 6. After twenty eight hours they were rescued by the schooner Monitor near Georges Banks and brought to Boston. Delia Hines, Barry’s fiancée, had mourned them but waited at T Wharf daily, hopeful for a reunion as prayers were offered for Barry’s soul.
Augustus P. Zeller a 34 year old Harvard graduate and tutor at Harvard allegedly stole textbooks to sell to pupils. He was arrested at his Cambridge home on Orchard Street by Inspectors Cox and Deehan. The theft is linked to his employment with the Harvard Co operative Society in Cambridge last October.
