James Riley, a steamboat man, swears out a charge of bigamy against Mary Riley alias Murphy. He says they wed in Scotland over twenty years ago, came to Boston in 1865, and lived in the North End until six years ago when Mary left him. A child was sent to Marcella street. Murphy says Riley was killed at sea. Mary later married Patrick Murphy in Salter place and Prince street, a year ago last Christmas.
