Worcester Fire At Family Theatre Injures Five

Five people are injured in a 50000 dollar fire at the Family Theatre 110 Front Street Worcester. About 200 patrons were inside when the blaze started shortly after six. Under operator Louis Cartier instructions the audience was led to safety. The fire alarm drew a general response and 40 adjoining hotel guests were driven into the street. Flames took four hours to subdue.

A sled accident in Roxbury at Paulding and Dale streets killed eight year old Anthony Gorman and seriously injured ten year old Alfred Brown. The front rider died instantly as the sled struck the wagon’s rear wheel, owned by the Pierce Austin Company, with injuries reported to the second boy’s head and body.

Two Boys Die In Coasting Wagon Collision

Alfred and Anthony, friends, coasted on a Christmas sled when it veered into a two horse wagon at the street junction. Alfred suffered a fractured skull and arm injuries while Anthony sustained a severe head injury. Ronald Bassett, wagon driver, was questioned and released on $1000 bail as police deemed him blameless. Bassett, 35, lives at 138 Fremont Street, Somerville.

If Barneys claim holds true and he presents evidence to support it, the motive attributed to Dorr by District Attorney Attwill will be disproved. The trial progressed briskly as cross examination began for witness Crane. Attwill called witnesses who identified the defendant near the Marsh residence in Lynn, his car, the cap and coat, and a watch fob with his initials. A bank official connected drafts and checks to him, while a garage employee recalled a rifle and cartridge box in the Dorr automobile.
