A thousand converts gather at Tremont Temple to greet evangelist Chapman after a series of crusades. The scene evokes a Rooseveltian handshake, a warm greeting, and the crowd rising in praise as the leader is welcomed.
In the front row a young mother with four children sits as Dr. Chapman delivers a powerful and beautiful sermon on converting as a child to enter the kingdom of heaven. The crowd responds to the eloquent exposition of the biblical text.
A sled accident on Florence avenue near Paul Revere road in Arlington killed Lillian Anderson. She suffered a skull fracture after the sled crashed into a stone wall at 8:45 pm while Frank Cadman, steering from behind, was uninjured but initially overwhelmed. Anderson, a high school student and daughter of cabinet maker Albin J. Anderson, died en route to a residence.
In Springvale Maine a roof snow slide at Lincoln School buried about 50 children as 300 funnel into class. Rescue crews and townspeople rushed to dig them out while doctors treated injuries including severe lacerations to Charles Goodwin. The packed roof snow caused panic and urgent response across the town.
Norwood February 17. Four children perished when ice on Sand Pond broke under them while they skated hand in hand. A fifth youth, Albert Ek Sweet, was trapped beneath the ice for about thirty minutes before rescue. Relatives and rescuers narrowly escaped danger during the effort.

The 30 to 45 vote defeated an amendment to keep a smaller battleship type costing 6 million each, favoring Utah and Florida class ships at 4.5 million. Senator La Follette spoke on creating a commission to consolidate navy yards.
A young woman suffered laudanum poisoning and was restrained with a towel and cloth at a La Salle avenue location. She later woke at Frances Hilliard Hospital and told detectives of an assault by a man and a woman, a cab ride, and pepper in her eyes. She wrote a note to Miss Mary Joyce warning of danger, linking Ella Gingles to the Wellington Hotel incident and naming Miss Agnes Barrett as the suspect who helped seize her.
