Boston College graduates and friends pledged 137000 last evening toward erecting the new Catholic University at Chestnut Hill in College Hall. The meeting showed strong college spirit and widespread financial and moral support for the alma mater.
Eminent doctors lawyers and clergy gathered in Boston to back a new Boston College. Attendees included Rev John O'Brien and Rev John Cummins with pledges of support. Judge Murray and Thomas B Fitzpatrick urged a nonsectarian Catholic higher education center welcoming all races, aiming to train leaders in clerical legal medical scientific and commercial fields. Father Gasson framed the movement as a fulfillment of Old World tradition in Boston.

William Tragey a 34 year old rubber worker and father of three, residing at 224 West Fifth street South Boston, killed himself by swallowing poison after failing to secure work. The family recently moved from Hartford Connecticut in December. His wife fled into hysteria and was watched by a Division 6 officer for several hours amid fears she might harm herself.
