Charles A. Baldwin treasurer of the Massachusetts Loan and Guaranty Company told a Post reporter that his firm expects to receive about 4 million of the New York city bonds. A young man about 30 years old was found sprawled on the Merrimac River bank near the old Chain Bridge with feet tied by rope and a heavy weight. Officials say it was murder not suicide, autopsy to follow, and no identity yet established. The body showed signs of cold, clothing described as a black tailored suit and other fine garments suggesting a person of means. The crime scene was reported by City Marshal Lattime and Medical Examiner Hurd, with the body moved to the morgue for examination.
A morning blaze at the Exchange Club on Batterymarch and Milk streets consumed the fifth, sixth, and seventh floors.
