Billions in Tax Rebates Amid Treasury Ruling Fight

Washington Feb 16 Delegations in the Senate accuse the Treasury of sweeping rebates to liquor interests from 1 to 4 billion dollars claiming obsolescence allowances favor brewers distillers and dealers Farley Frelinghuysen Smoot urge hearings on the issue and criticise unequal rebates against taxpayers Also noted were orders from British Columbia mills for 5 million feet of railway ties and 70 million feet shipped last year to the British government.
