Large attendance at the Old Public Library marks the Boston Terrier Club show. Eighty four terriers from Boston and Providence are neatly benched as crowds pets them. Proceeds go to Women's Charity Hospital in Roxbury with notable dogs and judges named.

Old Dorchester Wins From Arlington Boat Club

In a Boston Amateur League match at Old Dorchester Club Besarick set a new single in the final round with 244, breaking Parker’s prior mark. Besarick’s 555 three-string total led the night, Whittemore second with 516, Parker 500, Traiser two clean frames, Arlington bowled in streaks as Old Dorchester won all three games.

Fat New York fighter knocked out in fifth round

Martin Flaherty of Lowell knocks out Danny McBride of New York in the fifth round at the Greenwood A. C. Brooklyn, in a catchweight twenty round bout. McBride, very fat, was floored twice in the first round and knocked down repeatedly before being finished. Preliminaries: Tommy Moran defeats Kid Thomas in a 126 pound bout. Harvard Yale to Clash in 390 Yard Boston College Meet

The report says Harvard and Yale may run a 390 yard relay at the Boston College meet in early March. Harvard plans a crack lineup with Burke, H H Fish, Bush, Clark, Roche, and Greene, while Yale faces a late-arriving squad and Copeland’s consent. Yale Champion Team to Meet Cornell in Poughkeepsie

Captain Beard will pit his Yale champion basketball team against Cornell on February 2 in Poughkeepsie. Yale and Harvard may play whist in New Haven on March 27. Middleton defeats Keogh in close pool match

Jack Middleton beat Jerome Keogh, the reigning pool champion, by a close score of 160 to 146. Keogh fought hard with his last forty balls in succession, but Middleton held on with one rack to spare. This afternoon and evening Keogh will face Ingraham and Nickerson at Murray & Irwin's.

The Oxford team faced Kernwoods of Malden in billiards whist bowling and pool. Billiards saw Cushman win by forfeit as James Bradley failed to appear. Kernwood won the other game by one point and swept the pool events with solid margins.

Poisoned Death Case In New York Coroner Inquiry

New York on February 16 saw a coroner inquiry into Mrs. Kate J. Adams's death with Assistant Attorney John F. McIntyre and Dr. E. S. Potter as focal witnesses. Woman's Charity Club Reports Hospital Activity 1898

At the Hotel Vendome yesterday forenoon the Woman's Charity Club held its monthly meeting. Secretary Mrs. Isabelle B Stimpson reported that Charity Hospital in Brookline admitted 161 patients in 1898 with 290 operations and 2 deaths. There are 19 patients under treatment now.

Burglars Hold Up Family in Orient Heights Home

Two masked burglars entered the Gladstone street residence of Israel Bernier in Orient Heights at about 1:40 AM, binding and gagging lodger and carpenter William Eccles, beating him and searching for valuables as Bernier and his daughters cowered. One thief threatened to shoot if alarms were raised and both robbers fled via front door and side window after beating Eccles.

Violinist Lady Halle known as Norman Neruda arrives in Boston from New York to debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra this afternoon and tomorrow evening.
