Boston police officers rescued eight boys from the icebound Pleasure Bay in South Boston yesterday afternoon. Patrolman Thomas L. Finn of the Back Bay station saved two boys from the water on the verge of collapse.

Thomas A Ring a former En gine Company No 2 firefighter from South Boston died aboard the United States ship America as boatswain's mate. Despatches suggest an injury with an arm amputated. Ring was among the first 100 Boston firemen to volunteer. his brother Vincent will bring the body to Boston for burial.
