John J. Kennedy New York State Treasurer died by suicide at the Markeen Hotel in Buffalo. He was found with his throat cut in a lavatory near the ballroom, a razor nearby. Officials cited temporary insanity from worry over an upcoming grand jury appearance in a graft probe led by District Attorney Charles S. Whitman.
