Plan for Reading Company stock split filed in court
Philadelphia Feb 14 A plan to segregate the Reading Company and affiliated firms as ordered by the Supreme Court was filed with the Federal District Court. March 1 was set for arguments. The Reading will absorb $96,524,000 in bonds and merge the Philadelphia and Reading Railway Company, while the coal company pays $10,000,000 in cash or assets and $25,000,000 in bonds. The government urged a faster sale of Central Railroad Company of New Jersey stock with court supervision. The Reading owns major stakes in Jersey Central and Lehigh and Wilkes-Barre Coal.
