City Receives $11 180 87 From Tax Dispute WThe Back Bay Trust

Boston’s city treasury gained 11180 87 after a tax case settled by the law department. Cor poration Counsel Babson had deposited the funds with the city collector. The money came from back taxes on the estate of the late Mrs Mary Pickering who died in 1909. The trust created in 1910 by Mrs Pickering for her brother George Wigglesworth was not listed by Wigglesworth in the 1911 statement. The tax commissioner had said 66000 in inheritance tax had been paid and the trust included in the inventory. Wigglesworth sent a tax payment rather than invoke the statute of limitations.
