In Plainfield on February 13 a load of slabs tied to a horse drew a driverless wagon revealing blood spots. The owner B H Gould and his supposed slaver Clarence Terrell were found dead on the shore of Packard's Pond. Terrell held a discharged double barrel shotgun.
Gould aged 63 and Terrell about 30, husband of Gould’s granddaughter, left home to fetch slabs from Packard's Pond. Gould was shot as he mounted the wagon while Terrell, believed to have killed him, then killed himself. No motive is given. the men had been close friends and shared a home.
Max Manatersky a 21 year old wanted in Malden and charged with assault with intent to kill his brother was arrested in Hotel Victoria Back Bay last night by Back Bay station officers The clerk Gilbert P Fitch noticed suspicious actions and alerted headquarters leading to the arrest

Allison M. Stickney longtime water and sewer commissioner in Medford and president of the Wellman Shoe Machine Company died at his home 11 Wareham street from pneumonia aged 64. He served eight years on the council and belonged to Samuel C. Lawrence Post G A R. He is survived by a wife and two daughters.
Foulk E Brandt who served nearly five years for burglary at Mortimer Schiff's home may be retried. He confessed and received a 30 year sentence. Judge Otto A Rosalsky ordered withdrawal of the guilty plea and substitution with a not guilty plea in the interests of justice.
Judge Rosalsky grants a motion to set aside the original judgment and order a new trial for Brandt after Justice Gerard, who heard arguments on habeas corpus and signaled possible lack of trial court jurisdiction, remanded Brandt to the Tombs. New York Feb 13 Theodore Roosevelt will announce, in his own signature, that he will accept the Republican nomination for the presidency at the national convention next June. The statement responds to a message from eight governors who attended the Roosevelt conference in Chicago last Saturday.

Charles W. Morse the bank wrecker, freed from a 15 year sentence due to illness, boarded the Kaiserin Auguste Victoria tonight to sail for Europe. He plans a bath treatment at Bad Nauheim before resuming his travels.
After brief stay in New York the ex-convict and his wife and son with their physician left Morse apartments in a taxicab with four trunks. They reportedly aimed for Atlantic City but were later found aboard the Kaiser Auguste Victoria at Hoboken. Dr. Fowler indicated he would not join the banker's sea voyage and would stay with the ship's surgeon.
Governor Foss told the Lawrence city officials, led by Mayor Michael A Scanlon, that the city must show more effort to resolve the strike, saying reports convinced him they were not acting to help themselves.
Adjutant-General Gardner Pearson plans to visit Lawrence to press civic authorities to aid militia in protecting life and property. He accuses officials of spinelessness and says if they cannot help, military control will be expanded. Mayor Scanlon and city officials attended the conference as tensions over a seven mile patrol area persist.
Charles E. Nott twenty of 20 Pleasant Street Cohasset was arrested at home yesterday charged with forging and uttering at least 15 checks. Each check averaged forty dollars in face value. Police and bank officials reportedly involved in the case.
Detectives of the Burns agency and local inspectors arrest Thomas Nott and John Harris from the Cohasset bank squad after Nott confessed to forging checks and tracing signatures. Nott claimed work in a Boston firm in winter 1910 and later sought wealth by exploiting signatures of rich Cohasset residents. From November 1910 to February 1912 he allegedly passed 12 to 14 forged checks and continued the scheme into January 1912.
Governor Robert P. Bass, in Concord New Hampshire, publicly denies authorizing his name for the Roosevelt presidential movement. The Chicago trip had fed speculation, but Bass asserts he has no connection with the Roosevelt boom and will repudiate the matter on his return.
