Lieutenant Chalmers Killed by Accidental Firearm at Camp Shelby
Lieutenant Thomas Chalmers son of the Rev Thomas Chalmers of Manchester New Hampshire and son in law of Walter I Perry of Newbury was accidentally killed at Camp Shelby Hattiesburg Mississippi while examining his automatic pistol. He had served at the Mexican border with the 8th Regiment and later trained at Plattsburg and Camp Shelby. His body will be brought to Newbury for burial and his widow Mrs Chalmers who lived with her parents in Newbury received notice by telegram.
