In Washington on Monday February 13 the Senate refused to consider the New Mexico statehood bill in morning hours. The maritime canal company of Nicaragua measure was debated by Frye and Morgan and then postponed until tomorrow. The sundry civil bill was reported, an executive session held, and the Senate adjourned. A conference report on fortifications was agreed to, and after a clash the District of Columbia and appropriations committees settled a local-bills passage before House adjournment.
James G Blaine of Augusta Maine leaves 50 to each daughter Margaret James and Harriet 50 to each of three grandchildren Simons Blaine Blaine Coppinger Conor Coppinger rest to wife Harriet S Blaine as executrix with no bond. The will probated February 13 1893 in Augusta before witnesses W W Johnston Elizabeth Price and Elizabeth McKewen.
In an executive session Judge Jackson's nomination was presented by Chairman Hoar with a favorable report. Objection was raised and under Senate rules the nomination was set over to the next executive session.
Frederick Jackson G.8 proposes an Arctic expedition with eleven men next summer. A depot will be built on Franz Josef land's southern coast as a base to explore northward. London Feb 13 Mr Gladstone entered the House amid a crowded scene as Liberal and Irish Nationalist members cheered.
