Passengers of the Federal Express were saved from death by a broken rail that split the train near Leetes Island Conn. early this morning. The wreck threw three Pullman sleepers from the track. occupants were shaken but none killed with only bruises and sprains from the jolts.
A Washington to Boston sleeper train derailed near Leetes Island and tore apart three Pullmans. Car Nos. 4 5 6 were damaged but not capsized, tracks blocked, wrecker from New Haven responded, passengers moved to other cars and sent to Boston. Temperatures fell to six below zero as crews rerouted trains No 4 and No 38. The Federal Express shares the same train history and is linked to Taft travel.
One hundred fifty Sunday school children were marched out safely as smoke seeped through the floor at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. The fire threatened St Mark's chapel and nearby houses on Columbia road in Dorchester.
