Che Foo dispatch reports Japan seized Port Arthur after destroying the Russian fleet. Japanese forces blew the railway to cut relief, shelled the city and harbor, drove Russian ships to sea, where they were captured or destroyed. Japan gained coal stores and provisions. reports note heavy Russian troop losses and torpedo boat sinks. Russian ships reportedly captured in a separate claim.
