Massachusetts Bill Aims State Ownership Of Hoosac Tunnel

Governor Robinson argues for a unified system under state control, noting Massachusetts has invested 13 to 14 million dollars and owns 44 miles of rail including the Hoosac tunnel. Last year the Fitchburg line netted 71 thousand dollars on capital, suggesting inefficiencies and benefits from a broader state run system. The proposed bill, printed in full, seeks to fold the 44 miles into a statewide network to save costs and secure state earnings.
