District attorney announces indictments against Louisiana lottery figures while a Guaranty Loan & Trust Company report questions the trustworthiness of the institution. The post is criticized as a disturbing influence in public affairs.
A lengthy list names 26 individuals arrested on charges of maintaining a common nuisance for operating a policy shop. Several suspects are noted as also charged with maintaining gambling nuisances. Fifteen men arrested at 415 Harrison Avenue were found present where gaming implements were found and fined ten dollars each.
The Greystone Club in Denter Col gathered top Colorado Democrats and guests to celebrate Tilden’s birthday. Governor Boies of Iowa spoke on The Democracy in 1892. a West letter urged tariff reform and unity, favoring Flower or Mills as possible candidates, while ex President Cleveland sent a note praising Tilden and urging party steadfastness.

Emily Bell a 25 year old colored wife was fatally shot by her husband Oliver Bell shortly after 4 AM following a negro ball at Armory Hall in the West End. A quarrel in an ante room led to five shots, three hitting the head and one the neck and chest. Mrs Bell died soon after at Massachusetts General Hospital. Bell, a 25 year old laborer, was arrested at No 8 Garden Street Arch after reporting the incident to police. The weapon was a .32 caliber Smith and Wesson.
A Boston Post investigation unveils the Guaranty Loan & Trust Company of San Francisco operating a local New England agency at 345 Washington Street. Reporters witnessed a ticket purchase simulating a loan lottery with prizes up to 10000 dollars and a one dollar fee for filing an application. The circular lists multiple prize tiers, with editions of approximates, while the firm claims legitimate loan arrangements.

Foster of Indiana is the favored successor, with ex-Senator Edmunds a possible alternative. Meanwhile, State Detective Pratt arrested Eugene W. Clayton at Weymouth for the alleged murder of Mrs. Sarah A. Bradbury by poison, and Clayton awaits trial in Dedham jail.
A 21 year old East Boston man Charles A Gardner of 7 Havre Street was struck by a double runner sled at Princeton and East Eagle streets at 6 30 pm. He was taken to Station 7 then City Hospital and died on the operating table at 9 25 pm.
Sapamanca New York February 9 regular caucus elected Cleveland delegates by a 109 vote margin. Hill faction caucus followed with Cleveland men beating them by 102. Cleveland supporters celebrated with a jubilee last night.
Washington forecast bulletin reports continued cold with west winds for New England and Northwest winds for Eastern New York. Wednesday remains cold with generally fair conditions. warming trends expected by Thursday.
Senator Hill was served with a notice that he was no longer welcome at 128 State street near the Capitol. He moved to the Delavan House as the landlady cited too many politicians around as the reason for the eviction.
William Morton Grinnell of 47 William Street New York, born February 20 1857 in New York, educated at Harvard and Columbia Law School with a bachelor of letters from France, is a lawyer and nephew of Vice President Morton. He practiced in Paris 1884 to 1886 as counsel to the American legation and served as counsel for the French government in Washington on copyright matters.
