Residents return to find three flats at 89 Alexander street in Roxbury ransacked between 3 and 4 pm yesterday. Burglars stole jewelry and money while wearing apparel keepsakes and other items lay scattered across floors and furniture.
Police report shows multiple suites in a residence ransacked. A full inventory is unavailable, with losses likely rising. Philip LeBlanc, a builder and landlord, occupies Suite 1 with his family. Pauline, his daughter, discovered the break in. The Snow suite upstairs was also entered.
Plymouth report says many notable New England residents who stayed at Brant Rock Hotel last July will be summoned to testify in the divorce case Mrs. Helena F. Sumner brings tomorrow against her husband Earle A. M. Sumner, hotel proprietor. Continued On Page 2 Fifth Column.
Mary Giuffre, formerly married to Rufus Gaynor, son of Mayor Gaynor, married Nelson Gammons of Portland, Oregon a Harvard sophomore, at New York Presbyterian Church after evening prayer services. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dr. Duncan J. McMillan with a small group of friends in attendance.
Patrolman Richard J. Gallivan of the Court square station died at Haymarket Square Relief Station shortly after 2 PM from a bullet wound inflicted by Patrolman Patrick A. Hanley during an attempted capture of four suspects. He suffered a pulmonary hemorrhage after three hours of unconsciousness as his sister brother and Father Cowarden of St. Mary's Church kept vigil.
Patrolman Hanley remained at the bedside of the dying Gallivan, praying at churches in between, then Gallivan, with fading strength, told Hanley he forgives him and that it was not his fault, expressing forgiveness and peace before death.
The entry notes a high tide lasting 10 hours 18 minutes on the 40th day of the year. It records a daily rise of 1 hour 14 minutes since December 22 and notes only 38 days remain in winter.

Salem attorney Joseph F. Quinn, a leading figure in the Essex county bar, was chosen by Governor Foss to succeed the late Judge Daniel W. Bond of Waltham in the Massachusetts Superior Court. The Governor sent Quinn’s nomination to the executive council after three others declined the post.
The Essex County vacancy created by Judge Bond's death was offered to John W. Cummings James B. Carroll and Judge Wilfred Bolster but all declined. Attorney Quinn was selected after strong support from Essex bar with 87 signatures. Christopher Callahan was proposed but refused. Quinn born 1857 Salem educated Ottawa University Boston University Law School admitted 1884 married Lizzie Peart, two sons in college.
The New England Telephone and Telegraph Company has conceded to subscribers who protested the new rate schedule by agreeing to continue present private and two party lines. Suburban and outlying Boston districts will have unlimited two party lines at a reduced rate.
The act by the company is seen as a partial victory by groups opposing higher charges, notably the Greater Boston Telephone Association and the Massachusetts Real Estate Exchange, signaling continued pressure on rate changes.
Judge Jenney faced criticism for his role in approving a purchase where the town paid an allegedly excessive price to owners. The ruling sparked debate over public oversight and valuation standards.
In Hyde Park, citizens at a heated town meeting approved a rigid probe into the past purchase of the Hyde Park Water Company's plant, and empowered seven Citizens' Association leaders to sue for what they claim was an excessive price.

A message to Florence Whittier’s parents confirmed she was found in Providence. J. S. White of the Commercial Hotel was identified by a Post reporter as the person reached with the update. White declined to confirm further details.
A man claims to know the missing girl’s location and says she is in New London after tracing her there last Tuesday. He says she refuses to return home and has been seen with an older girl, with secrecy urged to her father.
