The heaviest snow storm of the winter began yesterday morning and intensified to a blizzard by noon. It left the city with nearly a foot of snow while city departments and transport firms fought to reopen land traffic as harbor shipping remained at a standstill.
Commissioner of Public Works Rourke reported 2550 workers and 600 teams were at work and estimated the city’s cost from the snowfall at about 40000 dollars with continuation on Page 2 Third Column.

Marie Nevins Bull 44, widow of Dr. William T. Bull of New York, died at Dudley Place in Newport R. I. after Christmas illness. She had two husbands James G. Blaine and William T. Bull. Her sons James G. Blaine 3d and William T. Bull were at her side. James Blaine 3d, a Harvard student, had fiancée Miss Marian Dow of Boston with him. Dr. Bull died February 22, 1909.
Ellen Beatrice Sears of Bridgeport Connecticut, who vanished on January 26, was found yesterday by her Chicago sister, Mrs. George Q. Bennett, in a musical comedy at a local theatre. The sister traced her to the Bellevue Hotel and Miss Sears left with her on request to use a telephone. She was denied stage access to interview. An attorney plans to file in probate court for custody. Sears now uses the name Joan Montrose and claims to be of age.
Vaudeville impresario William Hammerstein announced the polar explorer Dr. Frederick A. Cook will appear next Monday afternoon at the Manhattan Opera House. Cook plans a moving illustrated tour that presents his polar controversy to the public.
