Mabel Normand collapsed by the coffin of murdered director William Desmond Taylor at St Pauls Pro Cathedral in Los Angeles as she attended the service. The incident occurred February 7 according to United News dispatches.
William M. Wood, president of the American Woolen Company, assures workers at his home in Andover that wages will not be cut this season. The statement, to be sent to Lawrence mills, rejects rumors of wage reductions and says there may even be wage increases or cloth price rises instead.

Joseph Gridley, long a notable Boston restaurant keeper, died yesterday afternoon at his Somerville home. Ill for over a year, he began in 1886 with a six stool hole in Pi Alley near Newspaper Row and created the famous beans pies and coffee for 10 cents, a menu that gained national fame. He was 23 at the time he started the business.
