In Machiasport Maine on February 5 the Rev J B Brown pastor of the Baptist Church in Holmes Bay district four miles from town called on town officers for help for a two person family. He reports a pest has killed all their domestic animals and left the wife critically ill while neighbors keep the family isolated.
Selectmen hear from Mr. Brown about six weeks ago buying a horse and encountering a mysterious winged insect outbreak. The pest swarmed in the house and animals, eluding exterminators, and driving residents to stay up at night to fend off intruders entering mouths noses and ears. A blaze at the Gilbride Company building at Merrimack and Palmer streets in Lowell caused about 50 000 in damages to the structure and stock. The Spindle City Lodge I O G T held a meeting on the top floor when the fire started at 9 30 PM. Firemen arrived quickly to avert panic. Two women asleep in their rooms were overcome by smoke and rescued by men braving the flames to alert occupants.
William J. Short of 566 West 133rd Street New York City credits Father Johns Medicine with curing a severe cold that threatened pneumonia. The remark appears in a short health testimonial from a private citizen.
Edward Mahoney of Bowdoin street is jailed on assault with a loaded revolver after a confrontation with William McGlinchey of Charlestown. McGlinchey suffered a nonlife threatening 38 caliber thigh wound and was hospitalized after the shooting near Waldorf restaurant on Hanover street.
Four men fled from Lee Ho’s Chelsea laundry after knocking him down and dumping him in a cellar. Lee fired two shots as the robbers escaped, wounding one suspect as bystanders aided police. An intoxicated man tied to the scene was hospitalized later.
Richard Bogan of 56 Porter Street South End was held up at about 6 pm and robbed of 70 dollars by a man who fled but was later captured as James Hawkins 37 of 2 Hingham Street. Hawkins had visited Bogan previously, and the two had been friends.

Creditors attached his New York properties including 728 Fifth Avenue after a suit by Charles A. Hanna receiver of the National Bank of North America. A default judgment for 155 753 was entered against Morse as federal probes continue.
