HALIFAX Nova Scotia February 3 The steamer St Cuthbert burned off the coast Sunday. The Cymric of the White Star Line rescued 370 persons including the captain. Fifteen crew members drowned as lifeboats made three perilous trips. The sea cocks were left open on the St Cuthbert and she will sink within hours. The rescue was hailed as a bold act of heroism by the Cymric's crew.
The British and Foreign Steamship Company vessel St Cuthbert was abandoned off the Nova Scotia coast after a gale. The Cymric stood by nine hours and rescued seven crew members including the captain. fifteen crew members drowned attempts to leave the ship. The steamer sank within 12 hours. the Cymric proceeded to Boston.
