Harding Boat Stuck in Mud During Florida Cruise

President-elect Harding on a Florida coast vacation cruise saw the houseboat Victoria run aground in a mud reef near the Indian River channel. The vessel, delayed more than six hours, was freed by a Miami yacht and Harding, who had traveled ahead, played golf while awaiting the houseboat’s arrival.

Spectacular daylight jewelry store robbery fails in Paris

In Paris a man named Charles Russell, 24, of New Haven, Connecticut, entered a jewelry shop, struck a clerk with a lead pipe, grabbed a tray of diamonds, and fled for blocks scattering rings. He was cornered near the Church of the Madeleine and arrested by citizens, then handed to police. He remains in custody.

Distilleries and Bonded Warehouses Ordered Closed

Prohibition Commissioner Kramer ordered indefinitely closing distilleries and bonded warehouses in all states including Hawaii and Porto Rico to liquor withdrawals. Attorney General Palmer barred wholesale liquor dealers from further participation in selling intoxicating beverages.
