Collisions Tie Up Gloucester Harbor Steamers
In heavy NW winds two harbor accidents disrupted Gloucester activity. The steamer City of Gloucester backed from Central wharf and struck the Prince George tearing railings and masts, causing about 450 dollars in damage. The clipper Rienzi damaged the International Steamship Co shed with her jibboom, then was freed by the tug Resolute and sailed away uninjured.

The Miranda sails torn and masts broken at Liverpool, Captain Edward Norris calling it the heaviest gale he ever experienced on the banks. La Tonia and James S. Two Steamers Overdue From Sunderland Harbor
News from Baltimore dated February 1 reports both the steamships Queen Wilhelmina and Tampico of the Neptune line overdue. The Queen Wilhelmina left Shields January 8 bound for Baltimore with a damaged shaft, while the Tampico also departed Sunderland January 8 for Baltimore and may be assisting a disabled ship or following its sister vessel.
