Milk Trust Profits Highlighted in Scudder Report
New York December 29 The milk trust is accused of large profits after accountant Marvyn Scudder presented figures from the Borden books. In nine months ending September 30 the company earned a 1 076 772 clear profit on fluid milk and cream in New York and Chicago and 10 percent on common stock. The report cites an eight year surplus of 8 824 232 and questions the claim that milk sold at eight cents a quart caused losses. Special Deputy Coleman will seek justification for claims of losses and price increases to nine cents. Sheffield company records show 500 000 capitalization with over 300 000 for goodwill and high dividends and a 962 672 surplus.
