Manager Pete Ward and Pat Carroll, the Waltham runner, cabled that he will race George Tinckler, Scotland’s champion, in Ireland likely mid next month. They arrived at Queenstown and Dublin’s Sport notes Carroll’s times and his need to improve to contend with English runners. A letter will reach Ward via the Sport office in Dublin.

A fatal accident occurred yesterday on the Lynn & Boston electric line near Beachmont when an electric car bound for Beachmont struck a lumber wagon loaded with two horses. Both horses died. the driver escaped by leaping from the load. One passenger suffered a deep throat wound from flying lumber. Conductor A. E. Ward and Motorman McKenney controlled the car, which was about midway to Beachmont when it hit the wagon driven by Augustus Gunnison. The injured man, Frederick J. McCulloch of 353 Columbus Ave, was treated at Dr. Andrews. The crash left the car with a bent dashboard and shattered windows. McKenney reported the reverse lever failed to stop the vehicle in time. The wagon belonged to D. T. McCallion of East Boston. The incident disrupted service and prompted questions about safety measures.
Two Medford line electric cars collided at a Main street grade crossing in Charlestown near the Neck after a motorman on the trailing car lost control. Passengers were shaken but uninjured. the second car dasher was badly bent and the motorman had only recently joined the company. Conductors refused to reveal names of crews.
